a higher standard

I’m new around here.

It’s only been a little while, but I’m observant.

The new, the different, are met with a more critical eye. Yet, I see that the institution operates with shades of complacency, and reluctance to change.

I understand this, knowing it is my burden. Therefore, I must hold myself to a higher standard if I am to breakthrough.
