connecting these extremes

As the sun settled, sweeping bouts of winter’s breath overtook
With howling winds composing songs that pierced the silence

Trees were dusted with speckles of white
As Wildlife burrowed deep with their self-crafted dwellings

A layer of steam hovered just above the water’s surface
And bubbling within, this hot spring emitted indubitable warmth

This dichotomy of the senses was fully engaged
When my hand reached out of the water—capturing snowflakes
