beacon of light

Albert arrived in the US seven years ago. His determination and unwavering spirit as an elite German dancer led him to one of the foremost ballet companies in New York. Since his first plie as a young boy, he aspired to perform on the Broadway stage and was on the cusp of reaching this goal.

On January 6, 2021, Albert watched events unfold on television that felt unfathomable. How could this happen? He recalled days, as a youth, fantasizing about living in a place of possibility that felt so far away—and here he was, yet today it felt even further.

Nonetheless, Albert committed to not only his craft, but to his legacy—to build this place to reach heights deeply rooted in its promise. In the languages he spoke, he would showcase tenacity, optimism, and a sense of community to help forge the bridges of tomorrow.

Compelled, Albert sat to feverishly write his own ballet, A Beacon of Light.
