open rec

Madison reviewed the open rec from her laptop. She reread the job description over and over again. It wasn’t what she really wanted, but all things considered, it could work.

She spent hours tailoring her resume and cover letter to meet the mold of what they were looking to hire. She scrupulously checked it for anything that would take her out of the running as the ideal candidate.

At the verge of pressing enter, Madison paused. This wasn’t what she wanted.

It took her time to internalize, but she knew that what she really wanted awaited her on the other side of the delete key.

Ultimately, Madison deleted the cover letter and closed the open rec. She retrieved her notebook, and put pencil to paper—sketching out her future by hand.
