Fire ravaged. Charcoaled treetops plummeted to the ground. Roaring blazes churned through swaths of brush as plumes of smoke drifted into the sky, producing a nightmarish haze above nature’s wonderland.

In the aftermath, the decimated landscape was littered with wiry, blackened limbs of fallen flora. A now endless vista revealed the totality of devastation. Everything touched by the flame, forever changed.

Deep within the valley, a budding seedling spurred from irriguous soil. Once concealed by branches of neighboring giants, the seedling had never felt the radiance of our sun. Sprouting bright green leaves now reached up, in offering to the light.
