Our neighbor’s are moving tomorrow. Time to up-size with their burgeoning family—two little ones, and three adopted dogs.

We barely knew them—always waved and smiled as we both carried on through our daily routines. But in the back of my mind, I’d manifested a friendship with them—dinners together, or even taking a neighborhood walk together.

But that never happened, and I’m only left to wonder—what could have been?
