bad

“Do you think anybody ever wants to be a leader?” Ericka paused her small recorder, two hours into her attempt to write her speech.

“I dunno. Maybe they just get sick of the way things are and so they have to,” her friend Nathaniel called back lazily from her bed as he flipped the pages of a lit magazine.

Ericka sighed. She paused before taking an inhale. Her eyes fell back onto the recorder as she debated. A freaking margarita sounded life-altering right now. Was it worth the afternoon?

“You get to decide,” Nathaniel continued, pulling her attention. “How bad do you want the change?”

Their eyes locked in for a moment as the knowing of what she needed to do settled coolly like a slather of jam over her clavicle.

Ericka nodded and clicked on the recorder once more as Nathaniel reached for another magazine.
